Job Summary
The Data Analyst I is responsible for measuring and assessing the effectiveness of departmental processes and procedures. This role involves ensuring quality processes and programs are utilized effectively by developing performance measurements and communicating performance relative to standards. The analyst will monitor work quality, deliver reports, statistics, and recommendations for improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a contact for customers and client groups, both internal and external, for data research, document, spreadsheet, and report compilation and design.
- Review report usage and requirements with client groups to ensure relevance and alignment with customer needs, documenting report enhancements.
- Understand taxonomy of Knowledge Management and related systems.
- Maintain, review, and analyze data files, tables, and reports for inconsistencies, troubleshoot data integrity issues, and develop cleanup strategies as needed.
- Compile or import data from various databases into specialized software or tools to generate reports supporting various departments.
- Provide and conduct trend analysis to support business operations, which may include budget modeling.
- Write reports and create charts, presentations, and timelines to support department or business operations.
- Identify, research, and resolve discrepancies in analytical procedures or cross-functional methods.
- Interpret operational requirements for inclusion in studies and analysis.
- Provide recommendations for operational efficiencies and process improvements, assisting in policy development to support change initiatives.
- Write code to automate reports and templates, consolidating data into reports and knowledge.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of applied mathematics, assessment instrument design, and performance assessments.
- Display knowledge of applied survey sampling and statistics for various social science data collection methodologies, including univariate and multivariate distributions, regression analysis, and generalized linear models.
- Conduct business impact analyses and validation studies, including market research through all stages: concept formulation, metric definition, statistical methodology determination, evaluation, and final reporting.
- Estimate variances, calculate standard errors, and perform data imputation.
- Appropriately apply weighting for various sampling and data collection designs.
- Utilize quantitative methods of social science data analysis.
- Apply survey research literature, methods, and processes.
- Use and may program statistical analysis software.
- Support capability development within the organization, including reviews, gap assessments, and strategies for sourcing and delivery.
Minimum Qualifications
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) or an Associate's degree in a related discipline. Certification may be required in some areas.
- Generally, 0-2 years of experience in a related field, or a Master's degree (MS/MA/MBA) or law degree with 0-1 year of experience in a related field.
