Job Title: Data Architects/Engineers
Location: Annapolis, MD (Hybrid)
We are currently seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications
Responsibilities
- Develop a Source Data Model to DW Logical Design ERD, understanding the structure of MDEC data and star schema models used by JIS.
- Create logical warehouse data designs and collaborate with the platform administration team to design ETL processes.
- Outline ETL processes, set data processing boundaries, and provide system architecture for each element and the entire data pipeline.
- Document system requirements, manage development, and facilitate necessary knowledge transfer.
- Assist in the development/implementation of ETL tools and conduct testing of tools and data pipelines.
- Develop effective DW models representing data entities based on functional analytics, reporting, and bulk data requirements.
- Collaborate with the platform administration team to assist in creating DW Physical designs, including technical considerations for data quality and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to ensure data warehouse architecture development and utilization.
- Ensure all work is completed within regulatory compliance standards to protect sensitive data.
- Provide weekly progress reports on programs and projects.
- Submit weekly reports communicating project progress and status.
- Submit weekly time reporting on JIS-provided forms and any additional reports as assigned by the supervising manager.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in querying source data and ETL tools.
- Knowledge of Visual Studio, XML, SQL, and scripting languages such as Python for automating tasks in Azure.
- Strong analytical, consultative, and communication skills with the ability to work with both technical and business personnel.
- Experience with BI best practices, relational structures, dimensional data modeling, SQL skills, data warehouse, and reporting techniques.
- Expertise in dimensional modeling, STAR schema design, Snowflake schema design, and slowly changing dimensions.
- Proven track record in designing and building BI solutions, addressing data integrity issues, and optimizing queries and data loads.
- Advanced experience with SQL Server 2016 or above, Azure Data Factory, SSIS, and stored procedures.
- Proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, Azure Synapse, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and One Lake
- Ability to work productively and maintain effective working relationships with peers, end users, vendor development staff, and all levels of management and judicial personnel.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and mentoring abilities, and the ability to quickly evaluate, learn, and prototype new technologies.
